Rapids Camp Lodge offers unparalleled fly fishing in the heart of the famed Bristol Bay watershed, home to enormous rainbow trout, five species of salmon, Arctic char, pike, and grayling. Easy to get to, hard to leave: your destination is just an 80-minute flight from Anchorage, yet it’s a world away from the hustle and bustle of modern day life.
Catering to small groups or solo travelers with five-star rustic luxury, our staff of professional guides, pilots, gourmet chefs and multiple support personnel are there to serve a maximum of ten guests per week with single or double-occupancy lodging. We provide everything you need for the fly fishing trip of a lifetime: the finest rods, reels, tackle and waders, float equipped de Havilland Beavers, a Turbine Otter on amphibious floats, top of the line jet boats, and the very best fishing in Alaska!
And if you’re looking for more than a great fishing trip, we also offer glacier and volcano flight-seeing, bear and wildlife viewing, clam digging and eco-tourism activities. You name it and we have it – if it’s in Alaska, we do!
Our Family Operation
Rapids Camp Lodge was designed exclusively with comfort in mind; our entire philosophy is to create ease for our guests. In every sense we are a reflection of a passion for excellence. Rapids Camp Lodge is a facility with a fishing program like none other in Bristol Bay. We own 60 acres and over a mile and a half of river frontage right in the heart of Bristol Bay on the Naknek River. Our private oasis provides a perfect location from which to launch our expert fly-out program. With a spare-no-expense ideology, we have assembled the most spectacular fleet of planes and boats ever put together in one package.
Rapids Camp Lodge is located smack dab in the middle of Alaska’s Bristol Bay Region – the beating heart of fish country. Situated about 7 miles downriver from Naknek Lake, Rapids Camp offers anglers access to all five species of Pacific salmon, trophy rainbow trout and Char. The Katmai National Park and Becharof National Wildlife Refuge are just next door, they contain famous rivers such as Brooks, the Moraine, Funnel, Battle, Kulik, Gertrude, Ugashik Narrows and Featherly to name a few. And don’t forget our ‘out-camp’ on the Nushagak River – home to the largest King salmon run in Alaska!
We’re a fly-out lodge – guests utilize our float planes and fleet of jet boats to access the many different locations within the 150 operating radius. This means that within a day, guests can go to a multitude of fishing destinations and be back at the lodge for a massage and cocktails… all before appetizers.
The main thing that separates this fishing program from others is the fact that our guests design their own trips. There isn’t any set destination list – we make recommendations based on your goals and desires and you make the decision on where you want to go the next day.
